Recipe Day: Piping Hot Biscuits

I decided to switch my "Recipes Wednesday" to a "Recipe Day" post. Most often, it will come out on Thursdays.

I have a collection of recipes that were made alot when I was growing up. I'd like to start sharing some of them with you, as well as continuing to share other recipes I find. So here's today's recipe- I hope you enjoy!

Piping Hot Biscuits

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk

Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles crumbs. Add milk. Stir with fork just until moistened. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter (or drinking glass turned upside-down). Place on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Enjoy!

What are some of your favorite recipes from your childhood?

  2. I am horrible, with all the baking I do, I never make my own biscuits. Pillsbury took over my kitchen!
Thanks for the recipe. I think I'll start making my own from now on.

  3. Just finished making these, and they turned out so great! We cut them with our mickey mouse cookies cutters, and the kids are ecstatic about it!
